Question

My new BB Trans-Dapt chrome top alternator bracket is about an 1/8th inch off on either the top bolt or the bottom bolt when I try to assemble my stock, SB's, drivers side mount, alternator.

I am using a stock, cast-iron short w/p, a new Holley Strip Dom. intake and a stock, cast-iron, bolt-on head bracket that I carved on so it would fit above my first header pipe's flange and go on right.

Do I carve on my new chrome alternator bracket or is there a "trick"...

And the top bracket does go on the back of the alternator, doesn't it??

68 Assy manual pg 278 shows upper alt bracket behind alternator is correct.

Darn things never fit right

I had a substantial mis-fit on the bracket you describe when using a Eldabrock intake. When I went back to a GM intake, I had to put the bracket back the way it was. Carve away!!
