Question

Can anyone tell me anything about an engine based upon the following:
V0519DJS

I have been told that the 05-19 indicates May 19th, however, I've been unable to decipher the remaining characters.

V = Flint, MI engine plant
0519 = May 19th
DJS = ?? look at this again. Maybe wire brush it.

Also find the casting number on the back of the block, on the bellhousing flange, drivers side.(something like 3970010)

Casting date will be on the same flange directly behind the distributor. (something like E 11 2)

I looked to see if the ID was correct and it is V0519DJS. The only other number I can find is on the rear. 14093638 Any Ideas?

tango1112,
The only thing I can find with that number is '86 to '94 350. Jonesy is correct, DJS is not correct. If you can find the correct suffix, it will tell us more.

Chevy three digit codes start with C for cars and T for trucks. I suspect you have a small block that was in an Olds or Pontiac. That would make it a 305 more than likely if so.

Cool

I still have the same problem. Are there any resources on the internet to help with decoding engines. I have spent hours searching the net for more info. all to no avail.
