Question

What is the difference in the 69 Z/28 Harmonic balancer #3947708, from the other 8" balancers?

I am having a lot of trouble finding an original balancer - Can I use something else that looks the same?

Which should I choose?
Thanks,
Jeff

The original balancer has 3 large spokes on the front going almost to the very edge. The replacement balancer will work just fine. If you find an original send it to The Damper Dudes to get rebuilt. I can email a picture if you like, or look in Jerry MacNeish's book.

Thanks for the info.
Saw the picture on page 46.
JM says the early balancer will fit, just the timing mark is different.
Might try the earlier one if I find one.

The replacement balancer I got from Chevrolet this week is not even close.
It has a big section cut out on the side.
The front is 8" while the back is 6".
The part number has been replaced again.

I am going to hit the junk yards this week-end and see what I can find.

Where can I find the Damper dudes, and how much do they charge?
