The machine work is usually in the $250~300 range for bore & hone to size ( including cam bearing install if desired).
Bottom edges of block may need light relieving to clear rod bolts.

You will also need a 3.75" stroke crank. You can not "bore" a 350 and make it a 383 you have to also "stroke" it (meaning a longer stroke on the crank). A 350 crank is 3.48" stroke and the common 383 stroke is 3.75". This is where the extra cubes come from.

To clean and mag a block, line hone with a ARP bolt kit, bore and torque plate hone, deck to zero, stroker clearance, lifter bores clearanced, Performance cam bearings intalled and brass freez plugs cleaned ready to go for 695.00 if we have a 010 casting in stock.

All machine is done on a Haas CNC machine center other then the torque plate honing is done in a Sunnen 616 cykinder king and we offer free shipping one way (in the U.S.) and also we use a lot of new GM blocks and the price would 1295.00 with the same work done

Call around your local automotive machine shops, allot of them have deals on the SBC 383, some may even have short blocks made up and ready to go, and may also take your 350 short block as a trade. With the popularity of the 383 I know allot of shops are doing this around here anyway.
