I've seen a friend of mine keep turning off his camaro when we get to a place, and complete stop while it's in drive. Will this hurt the engine or transmission in any way? He says this is the only way he can turn off his car with out it having run-on.

It doesn't hurt the car unless you forget to put it in park before you get out. This type of fix is similar to turning up the radio to fix an engine tap.

Tell your friend to adjust the idle down in his car and turn up the mixture screws a tad. Should kill the run-on.
