I have decided to pull the engine and trans on my Z28 for a through cleaning. Anything I should check or do while the engine is out?
Thanks!

haha here goes the snowball... depending on how thoroughly you wanna clean and detail, it's a bunch more fun with the sheetmetal and rad support out of the way!

Snowball, I like that I was thinking off pulling the front clip. The car is mostly original, I think I will clean it the best I can with the motor and trans out, and then leave well enough alone. I still have one I am doing a total restore on.

wise choice, says Jim while looking at a 4 car garage full of dis-assembled camaro parts!

In that case, if it leaks, seal it, if it don't work, fix it, if it's ugly, paint it!

Yea, the car really does not need a lot. I just want to get 30 years of grease off the back of the motor.

Last winter, I too wanted to clean my engine/tran. I decided to pull the engine/tran to pressure wash and repaint the engine. Sounds simple enough. Here is the problem.......... once you remove the engine, the entire engine bay looks dirty. Do you want to put your freshly deatiled engine back in a dirty engine bay??? Of course not! I ended up pulling the front clip. Sandplasted the subframe, abrasive blasted all other metal front end componets. Ended up powtercoating the subframe, upper/lower control arms, sway bar, etc, etc, etc . This is how the snowball gets bigger and bigger.
