Does anybody have step-by-step information on how to swap a Powerglide with a TH350? Including any special things that must be done to acomodate the TH350. My car is a '68 RS with a 350. Thanks.

I did this swap 20 years ago to mine and everything x-member drive shaft shifter linkage bolted right up your shifter will work but the gears spacing will be different
and there is no neutral lockout but there isnt anyway right? Remember to use a th350 or th400 convertor seeing as th PG has different splines and the kick down linkage arent the same but no biggy good luck on swap you will definitly notice a difference in car

Take a look at www.shiftworks.com also. They'll have the linkage setup needed for the swap and the shifter faceplate for the extra gear selection.

Socal,

There is a PG to TH350 conversion article listed in the tech section of Camaros.net.
It is written by Wes Vann. I plan to refer to it when I do my PG to TH350 swap.

BTW, Shiftworks has all the shifter and cabling components to do the PG to TH350 swap.

Regards,
Mark P.

One more question. Mark P (Granny's 69), what is the key word to find the transmission article you refer to in your post? I am having trouble locating it. Thanks.

On the main home page for TEAM CAMARO, along the left sidebar, under Camaro Tech. It's one of the many Tech reference articles.

This is the one you want.... https://www.camaros.net/techref/ftecref7.html

Hey Socal,

Sorry I couldn't get back to you on the tranny article, HwyStarJoe beat me to it.

Ok, my turn for a question... Are the speedo cable hookups the same on a PG and a TH350? Or do I need a different speedo connection setup for the TH350. Wes Vann's tech article doesn't say much about the speedo connection.

Thanks,
Mark P.

Sorry man.... didn't want to steal anyone's thunder!
It's just that I'm following this thread because I'm in the same boat and got turned on to ShiftWorks because they're a local company.

I would think the cable connection is the same. It's just the speedo gear that needs to be swapped to match a bunch of things: rear ratio, tire size, etc.
Boodlefoof did this swap.... maybe he has an answer about the cable hook-up question.

Yup, when I did this swap all that I changed were the shift indicator lens and the tranny's shift selector bracket. I had to get the shift selector bracket from Rick's for about $5. The speedo cable is the same.

One thing... with my TH350, the kickdown linkeage is on the opposite side as it was on the PG, and as such is on the opposite side from the carb's linkeage. Haven't hooked up the linkeage yet, but havne't had any problems.
