Question

Just wondering about what carb would work best for 302 Z engine??
Am building a 302 from scratch as the X-33 I bought didn't come with an engine. Have the original dual plane intake. Just wonder what should set on top of it??

Been thinking about the Holly Street Avenger.
670 cfm rated for 350 - 400 HP.
770 cfm rated for 400 HP +.
Original was a 780 cfm.
Want to build to stock of just over specs. 400HP.

So, does anyone have the 770 Avenger Holly? Just wonder how it is!!??

I pulled my original DZ carb because I was in need of some replacement parts. I put on a Holley 650 DP (List# 4777-3) "temporarily" and it runs great with it. It runs so great that I'm not in any hurry to put the origanal back on. I'm guessing that the original 780 vac sec carb might be a bit better when it comes to fuel economy, but I like the throttle respone of the 650 DP.

I will say that I did't really get to run my car but a few times with it's original carb, because the carb was on the brink when I bought the car. So I can't really provide an accurate comparison between the two carbs. I think the 650 DP is more than adequate for the 302. I've had mine spun up very close to 7000 RPM and it was not starving the least bit for fuel.

I run the 4777 650 DP in mine as well. It is thirsty but runs well. Had to fatten up the jets to run with my Hooker 1-3/4" super comps but left the power valve alone. Put smaller .025 squirters in there for right now but might switch back.
