Posting this for a friend who is trying to id his engine...

Is there a way to identify if a block has a rollercam with out pulling the manifold?

Block ID: 14093638 V0427PJC

Yes there is if you can get the local GM Dealers Parts-person to run the number off the flat above the pass. side water pump opening. That should be the VIN and it should be in GM's complete file b/c that's how the Mechanic's tell what they are working on.. Good luck and come back and tell us what you find out... pdq67

if it is stock, and has centerbolt valve covers, it's PROBABLY a roller cam engine. i say probably because i have an 87 1/2 ton 4X4 350 that had centerbolt heads on it and a one piece rear seal but not set up for a roller cam. i thought it was weird. if you can, pull a valve cover off and shine a flashlight down a pushrod hole and look for a retainer around the lifter. if it has that, it's got a roller cam. i think all 87 and later car small blocks are rollers, and a very select few late 86 engines, as well.

you don't plan sincerity.
you have to make it up on the spot.

wanna hear about 20 years ago when i was too smart to know any better?
