I am looking at a LT1 from a Z28 to put in the 69 Camaro. It has all the accessories included. I realize the a/c compressor will hit/interfere with the cross member on the 69 Camaro. Running the Vette brackets would be best.

However....is there a way to notch the frame to use the stock LT1 4th gen brackets?

I've seen it done but it's a big notch! I bought all the Vette brackets from Chevrolet (now I can't use them!) Wasn't all that much money, maybe $165. or so as I remember. It would cost more than that to have a welder modify your frame (unless you can do it yourself).

Jody----All I can say is WOW!!!!!!!!!!!

I just clicked on your homepage. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am experiencing serious Camaro envy!!!!!!!!

I have an LT1 here and will get the bracket this weekend with compressor to test fit and see how much I have to cut. I am currently welding and smoothing the subframe, so now is the time if any to cut it up.

Did I tell you your web site is awesome???????

If anybody has pictures of the subframe mod for the F body LT1 brackets...please post.

Thanks! I was going to notch mine, but after looking at the size of the notch I changed my mind. It's been done and I'm sure it's fine to do.

Thanks again!

Jody

Today's agenda is to cut the notch. I have a LT1 from a friend sitting on my subframe to make my cut line.

I will update my website with pics when complete.

Pics.

This first pic is non modified. You can tell just by looking that there is no room for the body of the compressor.

Here it is cut, notched, and rough welded.

Here is a test fit with a beat up old compressor
