pushrod is bent... spring is broke... lifter is colapsed... cam lobe is wiped... pushrod / rocker not located properly?

only one? while it's running?

is it adjusted properly?
does it tick when it runs before it falls off?
are the pushrod and rocker arm worn out?
does the adjuster nut back off- if it spins on easliy without a wrench, it's time for a new nut.

you don't plan sincerity.
you have to make it up on the spot.

wanna hear about 20 years ago when i was too smart to know any better?

If you dont have guide plates check the push rod slot in the head.It should be straight on the sides to locate the push rod and rocker arm. I have seen them worn out before. If the slot is worn you can get self guided rochers and put on as a temporary fix.
