Good Day.......trying to figure out which cam would be a good choice for my 350 build up. I was thinking of using a hydraulic but would consider a solid if I could squeeze a little more out of my combination. I called comp cams and crane for their recommenditions. Comp said that a solid would produce more power over all. Crane didn't agree and suggested a hydraulic would out perform a solid up to 6000 RPM. My 68 will mainly be a cruiser with occassional 1/4 mile abuse on the weekends with a RPM limit of around 6000. Any thoughts out there of how much extra I can gain from a solid lifter cam, if any. Thanks Phil!

"I" would stick with a Hyd. A solid would
be more of a PITA than a hyd. on the street.

I put a solid roller in my car and with
the full exhaust it is very loud. You don't
notice on a race engine that is un-corked
but with mufflers on they are loud.

Beg to disagree here, but imho a good old CC 282S would be a dandy but it will need to be lashed every so often..

I think I have it narrowed down to two choices. Either the CC XS268s @ 230 intake & 236 exhaust at .488 lift & .501 lift or the CC XE274H @ 230 intake & 236 exhaust at .490 lift intake and exhaust.
How often is "once in a while" for lash adjustments?

I don't know about the new, high intensity lobe solid cams but for the older run of the mill ones, say like when she gets to "sewing machining" sounding which when I beat on mine a lot was like every second or third oil change...

TO ME, no big deal at all...
