First....thanks for all the help. I've learned a lot from this site. I just purchased the rear end out of a 75 Nova yesterday. It is a 10 bolt with 8.5 and 2.56 gears. Everything measures correctly and it should bolt on. My 69 Camaro currently has the 7.5 rear end out of a 82 Camaro that was modified to fit. I want to end up with an Eaton posi and 3.73 gears in the Nova rear. If i am correct, the Nova should have 28 spline axles and the 82 rear should have 26 so i should try to use the Nova axles. If i buy an Eaton posi for 28 spline axles, will 3.73 gears fit OK? I also noticed the axle seal and/or a brake cylinder are leaking on the Nova rear. Is the axle seal included in a rebuild kit? Could i use the brake shoes and plate off of my 82 rear end?....they are in better shape than the Nova's, but the axle tubes appear to be different sizes. Any help would be appreciated. The weather is starting to cool off here in Missouri and I'm gettin the urge to drive.

The Eaton posi will be a 3 series, so the 3.73 will fit. The Nova rear end will have 28 spline axles. The brakes from the '82 rear end are completely different from the Nova brakes and will not work. The axle tubes are also smaller. The axle bearings and seals are not included in a installation kit unless you ask for them. The kit is $89 and $117 with axle bearings and seals. Check the axles before you order anything. If they are bad and you have to replace them, you might as well upgrade to 30 spline axles. The 30 spline Eaton is the same price and so are the axles. You also must order the installation kit for the Eaton because it takes special bearings(28 and 30 spline).

Uh... no direspect or anything, but if you do a search on this subject - Ive heard that for a 69 Camaro you need a 68-74 Nova rear. A 75 will only fit a 70-??. They say you must move your spring perches to do what you want, otherwise they are about 1" too wide. Just so you know what I've heard. Big Gear Head is this true ?

The 68 to 79 Nova rears are all the same physical dimensions, as in spring perch spacing and overall width. Scott Windle, probably the most knowledgable Nova guy you'll ever meet, has a page listing the widths of the various Novas. http://www.novaresource.com

I had looked at the www.novaresource site before i bought the 75 rear. Actually, I printed off several pages and took them with me to buy it......EXCELLENT website for Nova's. Everything measures fine.

I have a 75 Nova rear being built right now too and I measured it every which way and it's the same as my 68. I was confused at one time thinking the perches were wider but that's only because multileaf perches are wider than monoleaf perches. So if you use the right Camaro multileaf shock mount plates everything should bolt up OK. I'll find out about the shock plates if the guy I bought them from at this site ever sends them.

As a side note, all X-body (Ventura, Omega, Apollo, and Nova) rearends are interchangeable.
