Are you going with the hydraulic cam then? I'm taking it that way as you dont want a serious lope to the motor. The cam I run is actually farily mild when it comes to lope. If your running a auto tranny, this would be the biggest cam you could use without having to change the torque converter. Mine sounds healthy, but doesnt sound like the kid down the street that had to have that huge cam that sounds like "la diggida la diggida la diggida " when it idles just so he can burn rubber all over the place and impress his buddies. I chose my setup because I wanted power to be able to move quickly, but not have every highschooler come after me to race if I happen to hit their cruising zone. At the same time though, I wanted something that would still break the tires loose when I felt like it. I still have use of my power brakes and power steering with no adverse effects. The cam is not too much over what the stock cam is.
Guessing if you built yours simular minus the 1.6 roller rockers and and went with 1.5's instead, and 9.5:1 pistons. Your motor would still put out roughly 390 hp and you'd be very happy with it. The motor would still be pretty quiet and get reasonable gas milage. I think I'm averaging 18 -20.
