Has anyone had to "center" a stock GM bell housing?

I checked mine and it is .009" from being in line with the crank. Centerforce has instructions with the clutch stating .005" max.

Is this common or am I just lucky?

Seems like .009 ought to work on a street car. Have you tried to shove the bellhousing over and re-check?
Offset dowells are available to fix it.

No, I have not tried to move it...

Maybe I am doing this wrong, the .009 is the total difference in reading, if I use offset dowels I will need .0045 to center it perfect...

Does that mean it is off-center by .0045 which is within spec?

thanks,
Joe

Yes, I'd say you are within spec.

The dowels are very tight, can not shove it over.

David, thanks for the replies.
