I have a 67 Camaro RS. I put a Holley Carburetor on way back in 1981. I parked the car in 87 and had the vehicle gone through and put in running condition this past January. The guy that did it, said he ordered a kit thinking it was Rochester but "made it work" when he saw it was a Holley..All that being said, the car is running rough and despite adjustment after adjustment it idles rough and now dies anytime the car isn't engaged in driving. So, would I be better off buying a whole new carburetor, and if that's the case, should I go for a Rochester that probably came with the car or buy another Holley? Please email me with response [email protected]

I think you need to find another mechanic that will be honest with you. There is not a single part in a Holly kit that will work in a Q-jet that I can think of. Your Holley is probably fine except that the gaskets are all dried out from sitting. There is not much that can really go wrong with them. Find someone to go through your Holley and it should be ok .... IF the carburetor is the problem.

Just my opinion,

Aye BillK is correct you probably need the gaskets replaced in the Holley and a general clean up of it, Rochester and holley are not of the same build or design and dont interchange parts follow his advice find another mechanic,

Heck as a matter of fact Bill is it OK if i e mail ya cause im not all that far from and have a few things I need to get done on my car that i cannot do myself. ( I just wanna get your shop address and such )

R,
No problem with the e-mail but we do not work on the cars themselves. We only do machine work. I can probably think of someone over your way that can take care of the car for you. Try calling Moe at MH auto, 301-855-6969 Tell him I told you to call.
