Question

I searched the archives and never found an answer to this question...

I have a friend with a 69 who wants to drop in a big block with a Dart intake and a 1" spacer. Has anyone here done this, and if so, what size cowl hood works? What size air filter? We're thinking a 4" cowl would clear a 4" filter. Any input or ideas?

Thanks...

I would say he'll have to use the 4" cowl, because with a weiand x-celerator intake, heat shield plate and 4" air filter on a moroso air cleaner and a stock cowl hood, I may have 1/2" of clearance. This is why I went back to a 3" element. And by looking at the Dart intake and knowing he will be using a 1" spacer, he'll need the extra height.

I am in the process of trying to get an air cleaner to fit under my 4" cowl. I have a Holley strip Dominator with a dominator on it. It is a 4150 manifold so I had to use and adapter. I just ordered a K&N 16" drop base a/c with a 3" element. Should be here tomorrow. If it fits I'll post pics on my website. I did get this setup to fit my stock cowl but with no a/c. Check it out.

I'm definately interested in this too...

I've installed the Holley Strip Dom. and just the old 3310-2 but did get the correct NOS frame and rubber mounts for correct header clearance, etc...

Please let us know with numbers such as height of manifold, carb. and air filter. And your frame and rubber mount types.

Yes, this info will help a bunch later, I bet... pdq67
