A CC 280 Magnum will put you up about 380 or so hp, but I don't know how it will pull your 3.08 gears b/c they are sized such that a CC 268HE or 270 Magnum would work better, but not have that "Sound" you want...

Whatever you do, I strongly suggest installing valve springs recommended for the cam b/c the stock 325hp/396 springs are only good for NO MORE then .500" AND are known to BREAK and cause all sorts a BAD things!!! If you have stock stuff, that is????

If it was my motor, I would install a good old CC 270S solid cam in it with good springs and GO...

I over cammed my 406 SB with an M-20, 3.31-posi and 26.5" tall tires and just let my clutch take the beating so know how road gears kinda wear on you after a while....... BUT it sure had that "Sound"!!!

Agreed with pdq67 - CC 280 Magnum would be the way to go - Your stock springs or a new set will work fine since the lift is only about .500-.520... But check them out, You'll need at least 95lbs spring pressue on the seat...A cam on a 110-112 lobe center will help give you that rough idle....had the same cam in my 454 - ran good- just not enough - went to the CC 292 Magnum.....

..and sporting all new suspension, wheels, etc etc... take a look...

Imho, not with the 3.73 gears.

The hy-cam I have in my 406 SB is a Melling 292/230, 109/107, .480" lift and for my setup it is too big until she is above 2500rpm, and then hold on!!

I'm using a RAM 11" setup. Diaphram style pressure plate resprung to 3200lbs and a RAM six fingered brass clutch disc - Er, no slippage - more worried about breaking the stock drive shaft, universals, or axles......
