i have a edelbrock performer 4-barrel carb with vacuum secondaries. When i hit the throttle it sounds like my engine is whistling. I dont really know where the sound is coming from but i think its my carb. Can someone help me? Thank you

Sounds like a vacuem leak to me! Check around the the base for a possible leak, check all fitting in the intake for leaks ! You can use wd-40 if you don't care for the mess

from what i know it is a bad gasket on the carb. an easy way to find out is to spray a liquid of any sort that will not hurt the engine at the base of the carb and if it sucks the liquid in change the gasket. that should fix that problem

get a piece of hose and stick one end near your ear and run the hose around the baseplate and intake and around all fittings at idle. the noise will jump out at you even if you can't hear it at idle. This is better and safer than spraying carb cleaner all around. a mechanic's stethascope with the metal probe removed also works great

I use a bottle of windex as it's usually handy and easy to squirt.

Sometimes a carb will whistle as the air passes the throtle blades. It may not be a problem at all, but check for vacuum leaks to be sure.

A friend of mine had the same whistle on his built Pontiac 400 with a Carter carb. We checked and checked for vacuum leaks, but couldn't find any and everything ran fine. He REALLY liked the whistle for some reason.
