Question

I just found out the old aftwermarket "Auto Meter" brand, 3-1/2" tall chrome valve covers that were on my 454 P/U core motor when I got it won't fit under my '67's windshield wiper motor!! Plus, I have installed CC's BB Magnum cast roller tipped rocker arms for new replacements for a more accurate lift...

Will a set of stock chrome OR even stock painted BB valve covers work???

Don't know what to do??

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!!

The stock covers will fit as long as you do not have Posi Locks.

pdq67,
Try 2 cork gaskets on a stock cover. It should clear. I use these. I bought them on ebay. I saw a set last week at a swap meet for $35.00 but they needed a lot of buffing. They are the old Cal Custom type and they fit under a wiper motor on a 69 at least.

You can use stock low rise valve covers with roller tip and posi locks (just make sure they are not real tall posi locks. I used originals (not repros) on my 396 Chevelle with comp cams roller tips and posi locks. You might have to massage the drippers on the inside of the covers to get them to fit correctly. I bet the cast aluminum ones that go one GEN V and VI will fit too. I think you can get them for around $115 or so. They are not chrome but look good IMO. Good luck

Thanks 69, but I opted for just inexpensive and like "oldschool" is all.

I'm not too thrilled about the Summit logo but the price is right.

But what the hey, I got my Merlins, Strip Dom. and 282S cam from them!!!

Trans Dapt sells some repo style chrome valve covers , they do not have the drippers but they are cheap and look pretty much identical to the stock GM covers complete with the ignition wire stands. They are availiable with and without the power brake slant. They sell in Canada for around $49.
Corvette Central sells the GM replica valve covers with the drippers, not sure of the price, but they are VERY nice quality.

Hope this helps.

Pdq, I may have an orange set of the Trans Dapt covers up for sale in a week or two, if you're interested.

RPO,

Thanks, but I ordered an inexpensive stock set from Summit with their Logo on them. They fit fine even though I am still running my SB heater!!

Again, thanks for the thought.
