Does anyone know who sells a electric Oil pressure sensor that has a narrower body then 2 inches with a longer threaded fitting end?

The sensor that came in the kit from Summit, the body is too large and the threaded fitting is too short. I can't get the sensor to fit between the intake manifold and the hole in the block next to the distributor.

Is there another place where the sensor can be installed?

How about adding a couple brass extension fittings from your local hardware store? It would definitely be cheaper than an electric pressure sensing unit from a 67 firebird with Rallye guage package. Those firebird oil sensors are going for like $75 on ebay and they rarely come up for auction. Plus I'm not sure if the firebird units are less than 2" in diameter either.

ditto bonecrusher, I just installed new gauges and plumbed the sending units with 1/8 brass fittings from Home Depot. Using a tee and elbows mangaged to keep the unit for the oil light as well as the new HUGE oil pressure sending unit.

I also added an extra brass fitting to make my pressure sender fit. Worked like a charm.

Had the same problem and solved the same way with brass fittings. FYI - I first tried just a nipple with a coupling - the dang thing was to high and was in the way of the distributor. Had to use a nipple with a 90 to kick it to the side out of the way - worked perfect.

I would strongly reconsider your decision to use brass. No auto manufacturer uses brass in that sort of situation. They all use steel. Depending how far from the block you put the weight of that sending unit you are multiplying that weight tremendously. Brass doesn’t deal well in that situation.

Gene H - The sending unit nipple is brass for both the oil and temp units. Just curious as to why you see a problem - is it the fact that it has a nipple and 90?
