Well I was fine tuning my Camaro and It started running worse. I recurved the dist again. I decided to check the balancer and found it out by at least 20*. Are there any problems buying a used balancer? anyone have one?

Cool

It depends upon the year made, i.e., 69 and older, timing mark is in one degree difference in relation to the keyway, 70 & newer are located elsewhere. One has to buy in accordance to its timing scale. If you buy aftermarket, then one buys the adjustable pointer.

When buying another h/b, be sure to permanently mark, stamping, etc., the two pieces of the balancer in the same spot. This will be used later in its life to determine whether the rim has moved on its hub.

Word has it alittle more power is gained by using an 8 inch h/b verses a smaller one. Eight -inch balancer will fit with stock water pump.

This is one place I stay away from "used" in a performance engine.
A new balancer from Chevy (GMPP) will run you @$130~150. The aftermarket 'Speed' types run from $150~250.
Considering what you already have in your motor (if I remember you past posts right) it's a small amount to pay for "known good" part for your motor instead of someone else's problem.

I installed it last night. I think this thing might be ready for the road and strip finally!

She is just kinda funny like that! I guess that is one of the reasons I married her. She also made me take out the insurance so we can take my 67 and her 2002 to the Cruis-in on Saturday here at the old "Carney's" location. What a woman!!

She doesn't have an avaliable sister does she....about time to trade mine in. Not only is she an older model but she's making to much noise. The rumble and chirps have turned into whines and squeels.

I bought one of these recently. He has them from time to time.

He also has new long water pumps from the ZZ4 bikes. Got a couple of those too.
