I have a 91 Z28 w/ a 305 HO. I have the 305 HO from an 86 w/ the quadrajunk in it, b/c the previous owner decided that TPI was 'too hard to work on' (If I could have 5 minutes w/ him!!). Anyways, I have bought a Carter 600 CFM carb, a Holley Dual Plane Street Dominator intake, and Flowtech headers for it. I am using the heads off my 83 Z28's motor (416 casting, 1.94 int, 1.6 exh.), which have maybe 3k on them. I might try doing some polishing on the intake and exhaust ports before I put them on, just to learn. I will be using the Proform 1.6 ratio aluminum roller rockers on it, too. In the other 305 (before one of the rods took a vacation), I had used a Comp Computer Cam w/ 206/212 @.050, and like .425 and 442 I think, w/ the 1.6 roller rockers, and CrossFire Injection. It ran much better than stock, but I limited the cam b/c of the computer. Since this will be carbed, what do you guys recommend for the parts that I have. It will see about 150 miles a week on the highway as my 'friday car' (I commute about 800 miles/week), and will see some strip time, but I want to make sure I can smoke those ricers when we go Honda hunting, so I am worried about going too big and losing some lowend. I thought about something like an Edelbrock Performer RPM, or something similar....but is that too much lift w/ the stock style valve springs and 1.6 rockers? Is something around 214/224 w/ around .450/.488 going to be too much, or in the neighborhood? Thanks fellas!
