I was starting to pre-lube my 406 small block and oil shot out of a tapped hole above the oil filter mount. I checked the hole size and it's 9/16-12 size. Should a bolt be in this hole? Any help would be great. Thanks

Yes, plug it. Some applications put the oil pressure sending unit there. THIS IS PIPE THREAD! BE SURE TO USE A PIPE THREAD PLUG OR IT WILL GO IN TOO DEEP. Or, if you'll use a gauge and keep the idiot light, put the guage sedning unit there if it''l clear the headers.

JimM,
Thanks for the help. I was looking at the larger hole. The one below it was the pipe thread. I put a plug in and pre-oiled the engine without LEAKS! Yaa! Again, thanks for the help, I was pretty freaked out seeing oil all over the floor. All is good now.
