Plan on painting my 1967-- 350 Chevy (freshly rebuilt)before installing, Using Plasti-Kote -- Chevy Orange Paint!I was told to give it 3 light coats & when fully dried then to give it 2-3 coats of (engine)Plasti - Kote Clear Coat !! Is this highly recommended?? Will it stand up to the extreme heat & thousands of miles use etc. Need to know advatages & disadvantages in the short & long term!!

I've heard of that before, but have never used the clear personally. I prefer to stick with just the chevy orange, I think the clear would yellow.

Clean the engine throughly and then wash with lacquer thinner. Then apply a metal conditioner, rinse and blow dry. Next apply a 2 part epoxy primer. Then use the orange spray can paint.
