I was wondering if this would be a good idea to do. Also how costly would it be to change it over?
What are the advantages of doing this?
Thanks for your help,
Jeff

Cool

It would be significant improvement.

The cost would be the purchase price of a good working HEI unit and for some #12 AWG wire to run from the IGN terminal of the fuse box to the input terminal of the HEI unit.

It depends on what car you have 67-69 Camaros the HEI hits the firewall. You can use a Pertronix module in the points dist. It looks stock also.
