The two main calibration differences between the Speed and Mighty Demon is the idle air bleeds (.059/.063 for Speed Demon and .070 for Mighty Demon) and the idle feed restrictor (.033 for Speed and .036 for Mighty). Everything else is the same except for the Mighty is jetted one step down in the primary. Both are 750CFM.

My engine is a 412ci small block, 12.5:1CR, 200CC heads, single plane intake, and a CC 292 camshaft. Do these small changes in calibration warrent the extra $100 for the Mighty Demon? This is the carb that Barry Grant recommends, but I would like a choke housing in case if I want to make the motor more streetable in the future. Anybody with similar experiences? I would hate to buy the carb and find I bought the wrong model!

i have a 13:1 377 with comp xs 282s, i started out with a speed demon, i like to never made the thing idle right, it took a ton of adjusting to get it to idle right. i swapped it for a mighty demon and the engine idled (a little slow) but it idled right out of the box, much better and required minor idle speed adjustments to make all well. i did the same thing you are thinking, tried to save the 100 bucks, don't do it. I guess that pretty much answers my question.

Just curious, was it too lean? How do you like the Mighty Demon?
