Hi,
What engine (block) code would I expect to see on a 1969 camaro "numbers matching" (other than the vin)427 Yenko motor?

The engine casting number should be 3963512 for the cast iron 427 ci 425 hp. On the stamp pad in front of the passenger side head should have the assenbly plant code, date and a code of MN for a 4 speed or MO for an automatic.

Hi Russ,
Thanks. The engine is supposed to be out of a 69 Yenko 4spd that was totalled in S. Carolina.
Hey, it's on the intenet so it's gotta be true right? Does that number determine that it was out of a yenko, or just a 69 cast iron block?
Thanks for all of the help.

Those numbers just tell you it's an L72 iron block 427 engine. GM stuffed roughly 1000 of them into Camaros in 69, of those there are roughly 200 Yenko's. There are probably another 1000 or so originally in Chevelles as well. I would assume the engine has a VIN on it starting with 19N5xxxxx or 19N6xxxxx. Anything else and it's not out of a Camaro.

Rich,

If you go to copo.com you can look at partial vin numbers. I have a block that appears to be out of a Berger car. It is V0512MN stamp and the Vin is down by the oil filter.

Thanks Russ. I did not know about CoPo.com.
I just got an offer to buy a 67 Vette 427 from a local guy, complete and running for $2200.00. He is putting a zz502 in his vette (not to smart if you ask me). I am still waiting on the numbers to verify the yenko engine and will keep you guys updated if he comes through.
