I'm trying to change the trans. oil and filter in an 86 camaro 2.8L THM700-R4 tranny. and they changed the style of the filter causing the pan to touch the filter. I need to know if they still make the old style filter and who makes it. If they discontinued it, I need to know which vehicles have this tranny with the new style "deeper" pan. Any information you can give me regarding this would help me out a lot, thanks.

they changed the seal too! (for the filter) you do not have it fully seated.

it is a real pain to get it seated...lub it up with tranny fluid and push very firmly.

i thought i was gona break the filter but i did not. i had to almost grunt to get it seated.LOL

the old seal alowed a suction leak some time's . the new seal is a heck of alot tighter so this will not happen.
