Does anyone know of a valve spring shim that will fit on a stock vortec head ? These will need to have an O.D. of 1.25" to 1.30", and an I.D. of .850" to .880".

The closest ones that I have found are GM p/n 3875916 which is 1.484" x .859, and a Comp shim kit (# 4753 which I've already bought), which has 1.25" x .814" shims.

If I can't find anything else, I'm going to have to increase the I.D. of the ones that I have by small amount. Thanks, Ron,

Take a cheap Chinese cone shaped 1/4" grinding stone and chuck it up in a drill press and see if that won't help you do the hole enlargement a little faster?

You may have to use a hand held 1/4" drill so you can turn it a schosh so it cuts faster.

I had to do this to three new lawn edger blades I paid a buck for up at Rutledge, MO at the great big flea market a couple a years ago b/c their holes were too small AND they were hard as h-ll!!

Hey thanks for the reply pdq67. I've got several different rasps and grinding stones, one is just a bit smaller than I need the hole to be. I think that I have seen a small "sander" type wheel with little flaps of sandpaper on it. If I can find one this small, I think that might be the best way to keep the hole somewhat true. I just wanted to see if anyone thought I was crazy for trying this. I sure don't want to have the guides cut just so the shims will fit ! Thanks, Ron.
