Unhappy

I just purchased a cowl induction air cleaner for my 69 (350) and can't figure out how the flange snaps or fits into the air cleaner housing. I lineup the flat part of the flange to the rear of the air cleaner assembly but it won't fit and stay put. I tried every other way but no luck. I'm begining to think I've got the wrong parts...I sure could use a few pictures...thanks

The flange (the part that gets the rubber seal) just sits on top of the air cleaner or extension ring; no snap-fit or retention. Make sure you have the right combination of parts for your carb and engine - there were three different air cleaners and two different extension rings; usages are shown in the A.I.M.
