I just took apart my engine and I don't have the tools to get a good measurement of the cylnder yet, but the pistons measure 3.995 at the very top and 4.020 at the wrist pin, supposedly the motor was rebuilt, can anyone tell me if it was bored .020 or .030 over?

thanks

Question

Can you clean the tops of your pistons off real good b/c generally they are stamped with the over-size number...

Maybe BillK will chime in here??

can you measure the bore in the block?
if the biggest measurement is 4.020, then it seems like it might have already been bored.

you don't plan sincerity.
you have to make it up on the spot.

wanna hear about 20 years ago when i was too smart to know any better?

pdq67, thanks, that sounds easy enough, I knew you guys would have an answer for me, I'll clean it off and check

novaderrik, I'll try to do that tommorrow, if I can get a snap gage, its too hard with the calipers I have now.

thanks for the help,
Marc

man, I love this site I didn't even have to clean it off, just looked at it under the light and there it was .020, just visible on top.

thanks again
