built myself a new engine, during breakinn, i revved it to 4500-5000 rpm for a split second, then this hard knocking, after cooling off several times the knocking suddenly dissapeared!

i dont know the oil pressure yet, but did i get lucky?? or did i spun a bearing???

first 15 minutes during break inn went well, then i revved it a second to 4500 rpm, knocking started.

its a very steady knocking, when i rev the engine the knocking increases also.

after 3 start ups, it suddenly disappeared.

since then i never heard a single knock, engine feels like it has power so i think (and hope) it is nothing

drain your oil and change your filter. check both for metal fragments floating around.

you may have had a lifter not pumped up yet. a knocking rod or wrist pin wouldn't "go away", but a lifter pumping up full would.

check your torque convertor bolts too, sometimes loose t.c. bolts make a knocking sound.

yes, we all know why you revved it up like that.

you've been a very, very bad boy.

shame on you.

there's a time and place for that kind of behavior.

ABOUT 30 SECONDS AFTER IT'S FULLY BROKE IN!!!

my moneys on a lifter that bled off and didn't pump back up after you revved it, sounds very much to me like the what happened. you should be just fine. still check your oil and filter for large or lots of metal particles, regardless.
