I have a 69 with a rebuilt 355 and need help selecting a cam. It has Trick flow twisted wedge heads, performer RPM manifold 9.5:1 pistonsand I want it to be good on the street. Right now I have the Edelbrock RPM cam, but was wondering what would work the best. Any help would be appreciated.
Good ol' XE268. Really, for street driving and low-midrange fun that still has a good top end, you can go a bit smaller than that RPM cam. The XE268 is a great street cam. With the Twisted Wedge heads though, they have a great exhaust port so a single patterned cam might be a good choice as well. Comp's 270H is a good street cam. I'm personally running an XE274. It is about as big as I would go on the street for vacuum purposes.
- '68 Chevy Camaro (sort of done, but always subject to improvement)
- '63 Pontiac Tempest (work in progress)
- '72 Datsun 240-Z (back-burner for now)
The pistons are not the ones made for the heads. Is that going to be a problem? It is getting close to time to get everything put back together and I would rather get the changes done now. Thanks for the replies.
