I am getting ready to get dual exhaust installed on my stock 68 327. Plan on going with 2.25" off the manifolds into 40 series Flowmasters. Per thier website, they have a new and improved 40 series called the "Super 40". Anyone using these? I would just like to get some opinions and differences on the 2 before I buy. Thanks!

there's a test in this month's hot rod comparing the new 40's with the 30 series (17" long, won't fit a camaro)

Don't know about the new 40's, but I have the old ones with a 2.5" system, and they are just plain loud (its a good loud, but I would not buy flow's again...)

I have 40's on mine and when they go out I am not getting another set for sure. Delta flow might be better but I want to try another brand next time.

I went with the Flowmaster 50 series . They have a much mellow but deep sound. You can tell the bigest differance going down the road at cruising speeds, the sound is much quitier than the 40 series.I have to agree with everyone else, the 40's are way to loud for just street. You can hear them at my website, go to blue 69 page and look half way down for the black box.

I have Delta Flow 40's on the '69 and standard 50's on the '67 both with headers and 2 1/2" system. The 40's are louder for sure but the 50's aren't loud enough with tame engine of the '67. All taste and opinion no doubt, but with a stock 327 I think the Delta Flow 40's would be fine.

I have headers and Flowmaster 40's, and I admit, they definitely are loud, but I think it's a good loud! Also, I just have them dumped, and haven't had the tailpipes run yet, so I would imagine they should quiet down a bit.......KZ

go with 2 1/2 inch exhaust 2 1/4 is too restrictive.
I have super 40s on my 69 camaro 2 1/2 inch aulminum coated exhaust with turn downs.
the super 40s are not any louder than california turbo muflers.
But they do have a throatier sound.

could give me a good suggestion for my 69 ss-350 camaro. engine will probably be around 300-325 hp @ the wheels. I want something good for the street and will be a daily driver. I like the deep sound, not TOO much of the "WAAAA!" sound, but a little would be nice when i gas it.

I have a set of super 40s on my 69; 350 300hp, 2.5 with a H pipe tail pipes exit the rear, I love them, not real loud until you get busy with it. I had magnaflows, they were a bit too tame for me. The old 40s seem a little too loud for me...Mike

I've got a small block with super comp headers, 2.5" into flowmonster 40s. Very loud, but I like it.

3 torque tech exhaust I have the Delta 40s on mine very loud. 502 engine 608hp with hooker 2 primarys and with tail pipes. Like the 40 series they resonate quite a bit. My friend also has them on small block with headers still loud. The over all tone is deeper. I think they sound great!
