Hi there, I just purchased a second engine for my 67 camaro. I was told it was a 1967 327 engine but looking at the castings I see otherwise. The question I have is on the engine suffix V0604HH the best I can find is that the HH is a 350 engine out of a full size?? Here are the other castings on the block;

3914678 (back of block)

F 3 8 (back of block)

18F236181 (front pad)

V0604HH (front pad)

It has double hump head that dont look like they have been off, but who knows. I will get their numbers soon. I was just curious about the HH.

Thanks in advance for anything you find

I have HH listed as a 327 in 1965, 1966, and 1967, and a 350 in 1969. Nothing in 1968. The block date and VIN are 1968, and 3914678 is a 68 only casting. The 327s were all Corvette engines, so the VIN "F" (Flint final assembly) rules them out. My best guess is that it is a 350 out of either a full size or a truck. Sorry I can't be of more help.

3914678 was used on all small blocks in 1968 from the 327/210, to the 350/295 to the 302 MO blocks.

HH doesn't match up with anything in 68 though. Could you be missreading the block code?

In 1968 the follow codes were also used.
HB - 327/275 M/T
HI - 327/250 M/T
HK - 327/250 PG
HL - 327/250 M/T HD Clutch
HN - 327/? PG

Interesting enough, I couldn't find any 350's beginning or ending in "H" in 1968. (I just did a quick browse though.)

I double checked and I am very sure of the HH stamping. I believe this was in a 69 vehicle. I searched trucks and did not find this suffix. My next question is, What is is a full size vehicle? Would this be the Chevelle?

Date code on the cylinder head is also June 1968 with a casting number of 3917291.

Thanks for the info!

The VIN derivative of 18F236181 confirms it is out of a 1968 Fullsize Chev built at the Flint Assembly plant.

If it has 291 heads (and they are original) then it was a 327/275hp out of a 1968 Fullsize Chev.(Impala, Biscayne,Wagon)

Could it be an early (June 68) block for a 69 model run?

I just checked Chevrolet By the Numbers and I come up with "HH" for a 1969 Fullsize 350 cid/300 HP with TH400 High. Perf.

No, the VIN is a 1968 VIN. The block would not have got a VIN unless it was getting put in that particular car.
