I finally found and purchased a 454 BB. I am confused about the head identification (casting number 14092360). Mortec http://www.mortec.com/bbc.htm describes it only as open chamber, oval port, Truck. Having no experience with big blocks I donít know if this means I got the ďpeanut port headsĒ. Can someone shed some light on this?

Thanks

Ed Staffels book says you do..

Their intake ports are wider then they are tall so are easy to tell.

And by the way, they will support a 454 up to about 5000 or 5500 rpm if you install big valves and do all the stuff you normally would to a set of O/C, -781's or C/C, -251's.. Plus make great low to midrange torque for working a motor!! IMHO...
