Question

So I bought a nice Autometer electric gauge package, but have run into a problem finding a spot to attach the electric oil sender on my block.

Engine is a 402 with headers, and the standard port on the side of the block next to the oil filter is not useable due to the clutch Z bar interference. Not even enough room there to install the factory fitting.

Are there any other ports on a big block 402 that I can tap a good pressure reading from and attach that fat sender to?

Is remotely mounting an electric oil pressure sender a good idea? I've toyed with the idea of mounting the sender to the firewal and then installing a manual gauge pressure line between the sender and the engine if I can't get the sender mounted on the engine.

Cool

You might try drvr side up front of the block. I believe the main oil galley runs the length of the block just above the oil pan rail. At least this is where GM put the sender on my '88 454 Dually, between the engine mount and the front left corner.

Everett is correct. That is where I have my sending unit mounted on the 454. The pressure might be a little lower at that point though vs the port above the oil filter. Just an FYI.

Are you referring to the forward most of the small (about 0.5") hex plugs that run along the bottom of the block above the oil pan?
