It's been over two years since I began this project and today I started the engine after a complete rebuild and some performance modifications. The engine has been out of the for most of this time. The start up went better than I expected and so far no fluids on the garage floor. Only hiccup is the car wants to idle to high. It idles good until I rev the engine and then it won't idle back down. It seems to be choke related. The carb is a Q'jet with an electric choke. I have not connected the choke. Could this be the problem?

yes, you have to connect it, or it will want to stay closed all the time.
