Question

I recently purchased a basket case 68 Camaro that had been disassembled 4 years ago. It came with many extra parts, one of which is a TH350 transmission that is missing the two keyways"?" on the front pump that slide into the torque converter. My question is: can the front pump be repaired or would I have to by a new front pump? Any idea on either cost?? Thanks for your help.

The pump gears can be replaced, as long as the rest of the pump is in good condition. Since the "lugs" were torn off somehow, it's probably not.

A local trans parts house should have rebuilt pumps. The one here is called Dacco/Detroit and charges $35 for a rebuilt pump and takes your core. There are 2 different styles of th350 pumps.

Thanks for the info. I asked about the pins inside the pump, and was told they were broke off while installing transmission on an engine. Apparently the torque converter wasn't all the way on when the tranny was installed. Has anybody else ever seen this?

Yes, I have seen that MANY times! I guess people are in so much of a hurry to get their tranny installed that they don't think about what can happen if they force the unit
to the block without having the converter
fully into the pump gear.
