Holley Plant

I've been having issues with my Holley 4053 carb on my DZ302 for awhile now and since I know nothing about working on it I was thinking about taking it to the Holley Plant in Bowling Green and just let them go through it and get everything in it replaced that needs to be and adjusted and ready to install on my car. I've tried to call several times but I have never been able to get anyone to answer the phone. I just need to know if I can deliver it in person or if I have to mail it. Has anyone ever had this place work on their carb that can tell me the phone number where someone will answer and how did you get it there?

Thanks,
Donnie

Re: Holley Plant

Donnie, I've never used Holley myself, but I can absolutely recommend Eric at Vintage Muscle Car Parts from personal experience. He's absolutely first rate, he knows these carbs inside and out, and does amazing work. He offers rebuilds as well as restoration services, pricing is very fair, and turnaround time was very fast on mine. Worth considering as an alternative, IMHO.

Re: Holley Plant

I recommend Eric at Vintage Muscle Car Parts as well. He custom built me a new Holley 1000HP for my big block. My carburetor flat out performs. His level of quality and attention to detail is second to none. He can also rebuild and modify stock carburetors so they perform better than new.

Re: Holley Plant

Jerry MacNeish also does very nice work on these carbs and his prices are very reasonable--assuming your 4053 is an original carb you want to have restored. He rebuilt my carb and distributor and the engine runs great. Holley offers a carb restoration service but I am not sure that it is in the Bowling Green plant. You can find info here: https://www.holley.com/customspeedshop/.

I don't want to sound negative about the service but it is pretty pricey. My dad a 67 Corvette tri-power set restored through this service to put on an L-88 short block that he found. The engine never ran quite right so I suggested that he open the carbs and check them out. There was debris inside and the floats on the 2 end carbs were set so that they would barely let any fuel into the carbs so he was only running on the center carb. Once he reset the needle and seats and cleaned out the carbs the engine runs awesome.

X2 Eric, he rebuilt the carb on my 69 Z/28 a number of years ago and did a superb job.

Re: Holley Plant

Thanks for all the replies. It sounds like Eric is someone I will check on. If he does distributors I might check on that also. The carb is factory and the distributor, so it would be nice to have them both checked out and see if any worn out parts need to be replaced and set everything factory. Thanks again for all the replies and help.

Tim, Matt, Vince, Andrew, Mike and Lynn;

Wow, thank you all for the kind words, it's very much appreciated.

Donnie and I are in email contact, and after discussing the issues he's having with the car, I want to make sure his ignition system is dialed in before he sends his carb in--I'd hate to have him spend $ on his carb if that's not the problem.

Donnie, I'll get to your last email shortly.

Thanks again!

Re: Holley Plant

You bet Eric. My only complaint with the carb I got from Eric, was that is was so pretty, I didn't want to bolt it on and use it. Looked like it belonged in a display case.

That was my experience also, friends asked where I found the new carb.
