454 Manifolds?

In stalling a 454 in a 69, the engine had some manifolds on it and i was going to use them on the swap, well the drivers side hits the power steering box. I done a search and seem mid 70s manifolds will work? If so does anyone know the casting # so i can get some on ebay.
Thanks
Lane

Re: 454 Manifolds?

Your best bet will to be buying a repro pair from Camaro Central or NPDlink.com. There price for the pair of repros are the same as 1 manifold on Ebay. I think you are mistaken about the mid 70's exhaust manifolds fitting the 69 Camaros. The only way to find out would be to call Heartbeat City or Camaro Central or another Camaro vendor.

Re: 454 Manifolds?

!970-'81 used a different front sub frame that didn't have the interference problem with a BBC hitting as well as fixing the steering geometry issues inherent in the 1967-'69 model years.

Are you certain that the frame motor stands are dimensionally accurate with what has been posted over the years here as fitting a BBC application. The aftermarket (aka China) has been getting very lax in reproducing the frame stands so that they actually fit the motor into the Camaro frame. Attempting to use a SBC transmission cross-member will also miss-align the motor side ways in the car causing interference with the steering gear box and headers or cast iron manifolds.

Red face Re: 454 Manifolds?

Are you using the correct Big Block frame stands and engine mounts ? How about the correct Big Block transmission crossmember ?

Re: 454 Manifolds?

If it is the right side that you need here is one from Camaro Central for $150. 1968 - 1969 Camaro Exhaust Manifold RH, Big Block, GM Original Used I saw one on Ebay that a bolt hole was broke off and they stll wanted $80 for it.
