Cylinder Head Bolt Wicking

Hey guys. I see a tiny bit of water glistening between the cylinder head and block under bolt #16, so I'm thinking that water might be crawling up the bolt and wicking its way out, or the head bolt needs to be re-torqued (new build). A couple of other bolts needed it as well and I couldn't get to this one as the headers were in the way.

I'd like to pull the bolt, put some new thread sealant on it and then torque it back down.

Any issues with doing that? Do I need to re-torque all to follow the sequence or can I just do that one.

Thanks.

Yes, you can do it that way. What kind of thread sealant did you use? I have used Permatex Aviation Form-a-Gaket with good success.

Gen 1 SBC? All 34 of 'em (on mine, anyway) go into the water jacket.

Re: Cylinder Head Bolt Wicking

Thanks Al. Yep, Gen 1 SBC. I'm using the Permatex High Temp Thread Sealant in the white tube. I have had good success with it in the past.

I'm leak free so far, so hopefully his will be a quick fix!

That's the sealer I used on head/block studs.
