Was there a 327/350HP in a 68?

So this drivetrain seems weird to me. A 327/350HP with a power glide, 308 rear end which he says is a 12 bolt posi. What do you experts say?

In a Camaro, the 327 would have either been 210 hp or 275 hp in both 67 and 68..

I don't think hes claiming the engine is factory stock. Hes mentions he put camel back heads on it so it now has 350hp. Not sure about that but that Car sits high.

Re: Was there a 327/350HP in a 68?

His engine has obviously been rebuilt/modded or replaced; the 327/350 stickers are $3.00... but if he's replaced the original engine with an L79, or built it up into an L79 equivalent, then that would be a great running Camaro..

The L79 327/350 engine was available in '68 Corvettes. The same/similar engine was also available (rated at 325hp) engine for '68 for Chevelles and Novas. A friend had a new '68 L79 Chevelle. He could generally outrun SS396/325-350 hp cars.

The 327/325 was basically the same as the previous 327/350hp engines in power and ran very strong. I don't know if that engine was available in '68 Camaros, but it would not surprise me if it was since it was installed in new '68 Chevelles and Novas... (V8 327ci 1x4bbl 325 hp 355 lb-ft).

Here is a good article on the L79 engines (from Super Chevy Magazine).
