Value in used engine parts?

Hi All,

I've had my '69 for just a year now and I'm using the winter to start planning for a spring engine upgrade. I have a 350 that isn't original but is from a '69. I don't really know much more about the engine and components other than what I'm learning as I pull parts off of it. My general question is how much value is there in some of these older (but not high performance) engine components and where have you had success in getting something more than scrap value (eBay, Craigslist, etc.)?

Right now, I don't think I'll be using the heads (nothing exciting - 333882 heads from the early 70's, 74CC chambers); the flat tappet cam (can't find the specs but I did a quick degree job and it looks to be about 0.40-0.42 lift with 1.5 rockers and duration at 0.050 around 200); the rockers (stock stamped non-rollers); the solid lifters; the pushrods; an original looking long water pump, and what looks to be an era radiator. I don't see any major wear on any of this but I'm far from an expert. Even without wear, does anyone buy this stock stuff? I've attached a few pictures.

Thanks,
Brad

Re: Value in used engine parts?

Brad,
Hate to tell you this but all of that might be worth $200. People use to think 882 heads could be made in to performance heads but that myth has been exploded.. Nothing you have is of any value to anybody. Put it on Craigslist and see what you can get. Maybe you can snag a sucker on the heads. The lifters and cam have worn in as a unit and are useless to anybody and you can pick up a replacement cam like that mighty cheap at the auto parts store or Summit for that matter. Just a sign o' the times.

X2. Can't think of anybody that would want the stuff.

I sold a complete 454 less carb and was lucky to get $200 for it.

Re: Value in used engine parts?

Thanks guys. I know I don't want this crap so no surprises. I probably am just looking for justification to not put a lot of effort into trying to sell the parts. Wasn't expecting to offset much of the build cost.

Put it on Craigslist. If you get 50 bucks it will buy a few 6 packs.
