Need Help Decoding 3892657 Engine

Hello,I have a 3892657 engine and i cant nail down what it is.
On the back it is stamped HB H22 944 657 And on the flat surface on the passenger side it is stamped VOI24EC And i have not been able to figure out what that would have been from or what engine it is.
Any Help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

EC 1957 283 turglide - - FI B/truck

EC 1966 327 A.I.R., glide - 275 4 Chevelle/1200 Engine Code Plant V Flint (Engine) 01 - January 24 - Day of the month. Small block casting date is located on driver side rear of block on flange forward of bellhousing. Example E038 - E = month, 03 day, 8 = year. 3892657....302.....67....2...Z-28 Camaro

Re: Need Help Decoding 3892657 Engine

Thanks for the reply! What does this mean for my engine. Im a bit confused by all the different info. Is there yet another set of numbers on the back of the block that i need to find, or do i just need to drop the pan and find the crank numbers?

Re: Need Help Decoding 3892657 Engine

He's suggesting casting -357 fit a few engine CID's
V....C means engine built in Flint with EC defining the vehicles it would have been fitted into.
Look forward of the oil filter for casting date code.

On the same pad where V.....C was taken, there should be a partial VIN stamped also and this relates the model of vehicle born with.
Picture of pad would be really nice.

The voi marking is the only stamp on that pad unless there is more underneath the head. That's all that's there...

Re: Need Help Decoding 3892657 Engine

This is a 1967 block. The pad will most likely not have the VIN on it.
Its original configuration was
1967 Chevelle 327/275 with A.I.R and Powerglide.

Re: Need Help Decoding 3892657 Engine

According to MORTEC, it's a '67 two bolt main block that could have come from a variety of vehicles with various engine displacements:

3892657....302.....67....2...Z-28 Camaro
3892657....327.....67....2
3892657....350.....67....2...Camaro

VOI24EC

Decoding small block Chevy engine suffix codes and stamped numbers DTR - HQ Provides the following:

V= Flint Engine
0124=January 24 (I know it looks 0I24, but I think it's really 0124, as that's the code format)

EC 1966 327 A.I.R., glide - 275 4 Chevelle/1200

I'm a little confused why the EC code shows a "1966", where the block code 3892657 refers to a 1967. But, that's what I found.

'69 375/396 TR 711 71 06A X22D80
LeMans Blue
'55 Chev PU Napco (Original)
350 Bright Yellow

According to Colvin's Chevrolet by the Numbers Jonesy
has it correct.
