68 RS: Oil line through firewall

So rather than just fuss with this, I'm going to ask. I'm putting an oil line though the firewall on my 68 and I got an oil line kit and grommet. I've fussed with the ferule and I assume it should move so I can take it off to go through the grommet. Before I F it up I want to see how it should be done. I've though of slitting the grommet but not sure it that's right either.

So, what's the right way?

The ferrule just comes off the tube. It's just a tight fit. Make sure you remove the little plug in the end first but don't lose it and put it back in before putting everything back together. You can snip the tube to make a clean spot for the ferrule again if the tube gets messed up taking it off. Make sure you understand how it fits and tightens to have a leak free fitting. It's hard to describe but easy to get it while you're doing it. I messed up the first time in the block fitting and had a mess of oil on the floor but you definitely don't want it wrong at the gauge
