Talking LS3 480 / Tremec Magnum Swap pic

So I did finish my engine swap from a ramjet 350 to an LS3 480 / Tremec Magnum 6 speed. Overall with the Holley Ls3 /tremec swap kit: cross member, oil pain, engine mounts etc. I had only a tiny bit of trimming of the hole to the tunnel. I know what everyone has said that I ABSOLUTELY WILL HAVE TO CUT UP THE TUNNEL to get the Tremec 6 speed in place, but I really didn't. It fit right in and I used my stock center console and everything. I did go to a Dakota Digital Dash. I have to say it went pretty smoothly. I used the clutch and hydraulic kit from American Powertrain. I did have to have my driveshaft cut and balanced. I also put Wilwood brakes all around and Ride Tech front end. It came with a 2 inch drop spindle and I'll be curious as to how it handles differently.

Overall not a cheap mod but I'm excite to see how it runs in a month or so when it warms up. I have been out briefly breaking the engine in and it is/will be a monster!!

Re: LS3 480 / Tremec Magnum Swap pic

I've got that engine in my '68 in front of a Viper T56. On a Mustang dyno (known to be stingy), through headers and a full exhaust system it made 440 to the rear wheels.

You're going to like that combo!

Would you mind telling me what angle your motor/tranny are sitting out with your setup? I would be very interested to see what you have with the Holley setup.

Thanks!

The old engine taken out and gave to a friend!

Tangled mess of wires, some are now rerouted

Here are the mounts for the new engine in place

New wiring harness with some wires tucked away now

There She is: March Performance accessory system

Tremec Magnum 6 speed

right before engine placement

right after she was shoehorned in

ended up taking the quarter panel off for access and placement of the computer

Bottom view with the tranny installed

Hole in the same place as prior, just sealed it up

Wilwood brakes

Dakota Digital dash and console

custom fan mount

tried the flexible stainless hose at first but looked like a vacuum hose :{

I'm now putting together a custom logo on some Eddie Motorsports coil covers.

I made the radiator hose from exhaust tubing and 90 degree hose
H20cooled and Sheck44 like this.

Re: LS3 480 / Tremec Magnum Swap pic

I had two brake issues with wilwood brakes. initially I had a very soft petal that went to the floor. The brakes were power bled but ended up as a new system it still had air so I rebled them and then it was very nice and firm. Then the issue was that they didn't want to let go. there was always a little drag on the brakes and they got hot after only a few blocks. Ended up that the rod coming out of the booster was too long even when it was screwed all the way in, so we had to take the little metal piston out of the master cylinder and drill it out about a quarter inch to give a little free wiggle room so that the brakes would let go and not be engaged all the time. Now they work fine. I still don't have much stopping power to the rear even with the master adjust all the way to the rear . I hope it improves as it self adjusts? Not sure how that will work

Re: LS3 480 / Tremec Magnum Swap pic

thanks so much! It was a huge project and so far I just love the difference! The transmission is so smooth and the engine is just a beast!
