Alternator bracket with headers

Has anyone had luck with alternator brackets on a 327 SBC with headers. The ones I've tried are very flimsy and don't work well with the header bolts. They're nowhere near as solid as the ones used with the original exhaust manifolds.

Re: Alternator bracket with headers

I have used OE bracketry by using a pair of spacers the thickness of the OE manifold minus the header flange, and used heat treated studs with nuts attaching the bracket.
Cast iron pipe works well. Measure OE flange, subtract flange thickness, then this will be the spacer length. Paint and install studs as this event will put bracket at OE dimension.

Re: Alternator bracket with headers

I went with Alan Grove brackets on my 68Z. I have stock heads with Headmann Headers and used the 213L bracket. Good quality but they do come as bare metal so they will need paint or powder coating.
