Header change

I want to change the headers on my BBC with P/S from Hooker Pro Comp 2457 to a set of Doug's D320. Does anybody know if this change will be a simple bolt in or if the connection to the collector will be different (shorter or longer) and affect the length of my current exhaust setup? Thanks in advance for any insight from the community!

Re: Header change

I had to dimple the 2457 to clear P/S box even though using correct frame and motor mounts for BBC. My research shows the Doug's sit tighter to the block.

Re: Header change

You are aware that dimpling the pipes has no effect upon performance? It is only a cosmetic issue.

Since there isn't a power loss (the gas in dimpled tube changes speed going through the dent, but volume remains constant) I doubt if it is worth the bother or expense.

If you want headers that fit buy a custom made header. Universal fit headers, like off the rack clothes, are designed to almost fit a wide number of car bodies and years, just not well.

Re: Header change

Thanks for the input guys. I know that the dimpled primary doesn't affect performance, but if I'm going to make the move to a stainless header, I'd like to avoid dimpling them if possible, so I'm just wondering about the fit of the Doug's, and if anyone knows if there is a difference in the overall length that could change how my exhaust bolts up to them.
